Upon completing Module 6, students will be able to:
- Diagnose acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF).
- Identify and manage precipitating factors of ACLF.
- Apply criteria for intensive care unit (ICU) admission.
- Understand hepatic and extra-hepatic organ support strategies (including plasma exchange) and emerging therapies in ACLF.
- Appropriately use conventional therapies in ACLF, including beta-blockers, antibiotic prophylaxis, anticoagulation, nutritional support, and surgical interventions.
- Apply criteria and approaches for palliative care in ACLF patients not eligible for transplantation.
