Nikolaj Torp is a clinical researcher in hepatology with a primary focus on predictive biomarkers in decompensated cirrhosis. His work centers on identifying biological signatures that improve risk stratification and guide individualized clinical management in patients with advanced liver disease. He also conducts research on phosphatidylethanol, PEth, as an objective alcohol biomarker in the context of steatotic liver disease with emphasis on its diagnostic performance, clinical applicability, and integration into routine assessment. Across these domains, his research aims to strengthen early detection of high-risk phenotypes and to support evidence-based decision making in hepatology care. Nikolaj is currently working at Odense University Hospital.
