Dr. Thomas Reiberger is a Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical University of Vienna. He leads the advanced chronic liver disease (ACLD) program at the Vienna General Hospital, including outpatient clinics for patients with liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and for pre-post liver transplantation care. As a physician scientist he performs invasive transjugular procedures, endoscopic GI and hepatobiliary interventions and engages in intensive care management of GI/Liver patients. His main research interests include viral hepatitis, complications of cirrhosis and portal hypertension, development of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, ultrasound-imaging, elastography and therapeutic trials. He is adjunct PI at the Center of Molecular Medicine (CeMM) of the Austrian Adacemy of Science and coordinator of the European Reference Network (ERN) RARE-LIVER center at the Vienna General Hospital.
