Biography

Katharina Staufer is a senior healthcare executive and physician-scientist with more than two decades of combined experience in strategic drug development, academic research, and patient care. She currently serves as Senior Vice President, Global Therapeutic Area Head GI at Alfasigma and as Affiliate Professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, USA). Her previous roles include Senior Vice President Clinical Strategy at GENFIT, Chief Medical Officer at Versantis, Head of Liver Transplant Medicine at Inselspital Bern (Switzerland), and Associate Professor at the Medical University of Vienna (Austria). Trained as hepatologist, gastroenterologist, and general internist she also holds a postgraduate degree in Molecular Biology. Her scientific work spans numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and she is a member of several professional and scientific societies.
