Biography

Ferran Aguilar, MSc, is a Bioinformatician and Biostatistician at the European Foundation for the Study of Chronic Liver Failure (EF CLIF). He studied Statistics at the University of Barcelona and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and subsequently completed postgraduate training in Six Sigma methodology, which he applied to quality improvement projects in the healthcare setting.

He joined EF CLIF as a Biostatistician and later transitioned into bioinformatics, combining statistical modeling with the analysis of high-dimensional biological data. In parallel, he completed a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the Open University of Catalonia and pursued a PhD in Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona, which he is currently preparing to defend.

His research focuses on the characterization of decompensated cirrhosis through the analysis and integration of omics data, particularly transcriptomics and metabolomics. His work includes prognostic modeling, biomarker development, and the study of the molecular mechanisms associated with disease progression and poor clinical outcomes.
