Agustín Albillos is Professor of Medicine at the University of Alcalá and Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal (Madrid). His clinical-translational work focuses on cirrhosis, particularly cirrhosis-associated immune dysfunction, the gut–liver axis, and complications of portal hypertension. He has led or contributed to numerous national and international consensus conferences and clinical guidelines, including AEEH statements and AEEH guidance on alcohol-related liver disease. Albillos previously served as president of the Spanish Association for the Study of the Liver (AEEH) and the Spanish Society of Digestive Diseases (SEPD). He has authored more than 330 indexed publications.
